Service overview

AKS applications depend on more than a provisioned cluster. Clouvenix helps teams connect Kubernetes configuration to Azure identity, networking, registry access, storage and deployment operations. We assess the current platform and introduce improvements against a representative application. The engagement makes node-pool responsibilities, upgrade preparation and application acceptance visible to both platform engineers and the people who own the business workflow.

When this service is useful

This engagement suits teams preparing an application for AKS or improving a cluster whose identity, capacity and maintenance responsibilities are unclear. It is particularly useful when a cluster appears healthy but deployments or dependency access remain unreliable. We review the complete workload path, including the configuration and application behavior that remain the customer's responsibility around the managed Kubernetes service.

Design and operating decisions

Node pools, scheduling and maintenance

We examine workload requests, node-pool purpose, availability requirements and disruption sensitivity. Capacity choices must support the application during an agreed maintenance event, not simply during normal operation. The plan records how nodes are replaced or upgraded and what the application team must change if its workloads cannot tolerate rescheduling.

Workload identity and private dependencies

Identity, cluster access and application access to Azure resources are separate concerns. We document each boundary and validate a representative workload using the intended permissions. Networking and DNS are checked from the workload itself, so a successful administrator connection is not mistaken for proof that the application can reach its dependencies.

Scope and deliverables

  • AKS cluster and node-pool assessment
  • Azure networking and private access integration
  • Workload identity and registry permissions
  • Ingress, storage and telemetry configuration
  • Platform maintenance and handover procedures

Delivery approach

1. Review the platform baseline

Inventory cluster and add-on versions, node pools, subnet capacity and application disruption constraints. Identify external dependencies before changing platform components.

2. Build a staged application path

Configure the agreed identity and network model, then validate an application through ingress, storage and dependent Azure services.

3. Rehearse a lifecycle operation

Run a controlled node or workload maintenance scenario. Record scheduling behavior, application validation and the decision points needed for a safe change window.

Illustrative engagement

For example, an existing AKS application may work until a node-pool upgrade exposes an assumption about local state or a single replica. A scoped engagement could review that workload, agree the necessary application changes and rehearse a bounded maintenance event in a representative environment. The test follows an actual request and records scheduling, health and recovery evidence. Any redesign of application persistence is treated as an explicit dependency rather than hidden inside a cluster configuration change.

Acceptance evidence

AreaEvidence reviewed
ConnectivityThe sample application reaches required dependencies without unintended public exposure.
SchedulingReviewed requests, placement constraints and node pools support the agreed workload scenario.
MaintenanceThe team has a tested procedure for one representative platform lifecycle event.

Before we start

We need Azure and cluster access, deployment manifests, subnet allocation, registry ownership and application acceptance checks. Identify workloads that cannot tolerate rescheduling before testing.

Planning the scope

Effort varies with cluster count, versions, network mode, storage dependencies and workload diversity. Access to infrastructure code and a representative nonproduction application reduces uncertainty. Discovery identifies changes suitable for the existing cluster, changes requiring replacement and the test owners needed to validate application behavior before any production maintenance or migration is scheduled.

Handover and ownership

Handover provides node-pool and add-on records, deployment conventions, workload identity configuration and operational runbooks. We identify ownership of cluster upgrades, application releases and dependency credentials. The customer operator practices investigation of an agreed failure symptom and receives a backlog of remaining risks, with support responsibilities defined against the platform's actual maintenance and incident needs. Runbooks also identify the telemetry needed to distinguish scheduling delays from application startup failures.

Ongoing operations

After acceptance, the platform needs version and add-on review, capacity observation, access control and actionable alert handling. The operating plan connects platform signals to application impact. Backup and recovery decisions also require application-specific evidence, while response coverage, ongoing patch work and future application onboarding are separately agreed according to the customer's operating model.

Boundaries and support

Cluster availability and application availability are different measurements. Application fixes, unsupported-version remediation and continuous support require their own agreed scope.

Frequently asked questions

Can you troubleshoot pending pods?

Yes. We investigate scheduling constraints, resource availability, node readiness and storage dependencies before recommending additional capacity.

Does the work include private AKS access?

Private administration and dependency paths can be included. DNS, operator access and release-agent connectivity are part of that design.

Can you help with an existing upgrade problem?

We inspect version support, add-ons and workload disruption behavior, then prepare a recovery or upgrade sequence appropriate to the current state.
