01Service overview
+
Access accumulates as people change teams, integrations are replaced and emergency permissions become permanent. Clouvenix helps organizations establish an evidence-based review of selected entitlements. We map accounts, roles, groups and machine identities to an owner and business purpose, then coordinate decisions with the responsible managers. The result is a reviewable access record and a staged remediation plan rather than an unverified spreadsheet of users.
02When this service is useful
+
This engagement helps organizations review who has access to selected systems and whether that access still has a justified owner. It is useful after team changes, acquisitions or prolonged use of broad administrator groups. We gather the available entitlement evidence and involve the people who understand legitimate tasks, turning an access list into review decisions that can be acted on and demonstrated.
03Design and operating decisions
+
Review scope and effective entitlement
An identity can obtain access through groups, roles, direct grants or external relationships. We map the relevant paths within the agreed systems and record visibility limits. Human users, service identities and emergency accounts are reviewed separately, since removing an unfamiliar nonhuman identity without understanding its consumer can interrupt an application.
Approval, removal and exceptions
Customer owners decide whether an entitlement is required, should be reduced or needs further investigation. We define the evidence and authorization for implementing those decisions. Removal is staged where dependencies are uncertain, and exceptions receive a reason, owner and review date so unresolved questions do not disappear into a permanently approved access list.
04Scope and deliverables
+
- Human and service-identity inventory
- Role, group and privilege-path analysis
- Owner-led entitlement decision workflow
- Stale access and credential remediation planning
- Removal validation and recurring-review handover
05Delivery approach
+
1. Define systems and decision owners
Identify the applications, accounts and privileged paths included in the review. Agree who can approve continued access and how exceptions are recorded.
2. Collect and reconcile entitlements
Compare active identities, group membership and direct role assignments with the agreed source records. Identify orphaned ownership and excessive or outdated access.
3. Validate agreed removals
Stage approved changes with application owners, verify the intended access outcome and record exceptions. Hand over the process for the next review cycle.
06Illustrative engagement
+
An illustrative engagement could review privileged access across a cloud platform and several critical applications after a team restructure. We collect role and group evidence, identify ownership and ask accountable managers or system owners to validate representative entitlements. Approved removals are implemented where included and checked against the resulting access state. Service-account dependencies are investigated separately. The output distinguishes completed actions, accepted exceptions and unanswered ownership questions without implying that a spreadsheet approval alone has changed effective permissions.
07Acceptance evidence
+
| Area | Evidence reviewed |
|---|---|
| Ownership | Reviewed privileges have an accountable owner and a documented business purpose or removal decision. |
| Remediation | Selected access changes are verified against the actual target system rather than only an approval record. |
| Repeatability | The next review has defined inputs, decision roles and handling for unresolved exceptions. |
08Before we start
+
Provide approved directory and application exports or read access, team ownership records and decision-makers. Service accounts and break-glass identities must be identified before changes are proposed.
09Planning the scope
+
Scope depends on systems, identity sources, entitlement complexity, export capabilities and the availability of customer approvers. Historical ownership gaps can require additional investigation. Discovery separates review from full identity-platform redesign, application replacement and ongoing access administration, agreeing whether implementation and post-change checks are included or whether the primary deliverable is a prioritized decision and action register.
10Handover and ownership
+
Handover includes the reviewed scope, entitlement evidence, customer decisions and the status of agreed changes. We explain which access paths could not be examined and who owns outstanding investigations. Operators receive a repeatable review procedure and evidence requirements for future removals, while customer managers and system owners retain approval of the business need for access.
11Ongoing operations
+
Reviews should connect to joiner, mover and leaver processes so the same unnecessary access does not reappear. New systems and service identities need owners from the beginning. We document review cadence and escalation for unanswered decisions, with continuing entitlement administration, evidence preparation and incident coverage scoped explicitly according to the customer's operating and governance needs.
12Boundaries and support
+
The review covers named systems and time-bounded evidence. It does not automatically assess every application authorization rule or certify the organization’s complete identity security.
13Frequently asked questions
+
Do you remove access automatically?
No blanket removal is assumed. Proposed changes are approved by the responsible owners and validated with attention to application and emergency-access dependencies.
Does this include service accounts?
Yes, when they are in scope. We identify purpose, credential ownership, permissions and dependent workloads before proposing access changes.
Can this become a recurring process?
Yes. We can define the review cadence, evidence collection and exception handling, with ongoing operation agreed separately if your team needs support.
